Mount Etna, an active volcano on the eastern side of Sicily, provides the unique combination of volcanic soils and high altitude cool climate growing conditions which result in some of the most captivating wines of the Mediterranean. Most famous for reds made from Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio, it has garnered praiseworthy attention from sommeliers and drinkers around the world for the past decade and a half - not just for their classic red wines but also for natural wines which have challenged conventions. Come join Caitlin and Stephen on a journey through Etna, including a comparison of single vineyard wines and several wines with a decade of bottle maturity! Producers include Frank Cornelissen, Tenuta della Terre Nere, Panevino, Girolamo Russo, I Custodi and I Vigneri.
Our full calendar includes ongoing weekly tastings as well as regular masterclasses presented by the Wine Sentience team or by visiting wine professionals from the regions of New Zealand. Sometimes there are quiet months so please do look forward a month or two, so you don’t miss out on forthcoming events!
