Umber Ground:
An Ode to Orange Wine
Umber Ground is a one day celebration of orange wine in Aotearoa. The premise is simple; bring together the most comprehensive line-up of orange wines available in NZ today, along with the people making and championing the wines. It is a chance to discover the diversity of wines bound by technique - whether an orange wine wizard or novice.
We have 25+ wineries and winemakers in attendance, showing 44 wines, plus more being tasted in the ‘Hot Seat’ talks. Your ticket is your entry into the festival and includes all tastes of wines being poured on the day. Food, entry to the “hot seat’ talks, and a handful of other benchmark orange wines from the bar can be purchased additionally, but only if you want to. The menu has been created specially by Glou Glou and Food Envy, inspired by Georgian cuisine and to accompany orange wines.
Wines being shown on the day include; a Thousand Gods, Amoise, Brennan Wines, Cambridge Road, Dicey, Halcyon Days, The Hermit Ram, Huntress Wines, Kindeli, Known Unknown, Marathon Downs, Mélange, Millton Vineyards, Mount Edward, Organico, Pyramid Valley, Silver Wing, The Supernatural Wine Co., TINCAN Wines, Tongue in Groove, Urlar, Valli Wines, Zephyr/The Coterie, Rockburn, Pheasant’s Tears, Unico Zelo and Testalonga.
