Growing Champagne: a guide to vigneron champagne

Vigneron Champagne, or Grower Champagne has established itself as the haute couture equivalent of the sparkling wine world. The focus on individual growers, subregional expressions and often even single vineyards and vintages runs counter to the consistent, reliable branded marques which the famous houses built their reputation on.

For our showcase masterclass of 2018, Wellington’s own Master of Wine, Stephen Wong will unpackage the myth and mystique behind these rarefied bottles of France’s luxury wine region. Taste and learn about what sets these wines apart from the commercial juggernaut of of the region; unravel the patchwork of varieties and vineyards which constitute Champagne; and taste some spectacular sparkling wine.

Domaines being tasted include Larmandier-Bernier, Vilmart, Agrapart, Bérêche & fils, Egly-Ouriet and Georges Laval
